I came to America with 2 suitcases and 500 dollars in borrowed money. The year was 1999 and I was 24 years old. In no other country would my story be possible.
The wide gap in culture between the East and the West starts at birth. In the East, parents continously beat down their children for dreaming and convince them that they should never dream. Children are scared into thinking and believing that if they do dream, then they are destined to fail. In sharp contrast, in the West, parents – from a very young age – encourage their children to dream big. They help their children to nurture, foster and chase their dreams until they realize it.
