Almost exactly a year ago – on 27th November of 2008 to be precise – soon-to-be President Barack Obama told Barbara Walters in an interview that he never thinks about his safety.
“Part of it because I’ve got this pretty terrific crew of Secret Service guys that follow me everywhere I go, but also because I have a deep religious faith and faith in people that carries me through the day,” he said. “And my job is just to make sure I’m doing my job, and if I do, I can’t worry about that kind of stuff.”

I wonder if he still feels the same way about the Secret Service after two intruders crashed into his Party at the White House on Tuesday. Even if these individuals were not a real threat, the fact that these two intruders were able to get past the Secret Service and make physical contact with the President is quite un-nerving.

“They weren’t anything out of the ordinary”. Say CBS News anchor Katie Couric.
“They just, GOSH, seemed like they belonged there !”.
In a written statement, Mark Sullivan, Director of the Secret Service says that he is “deeply concerned and embarrassed,” and “appropriate steps have been taken to ensure this is not repeated.”
He went on to explain that “the preliminary findings of our internal investigation have determined that established protocols were not followed at an initial checkpoint” and “although these individuals went through magnetometers and other levels of screening, they should have been prohibited from entering the event entirely. That failing is ours.”
Awesome Mark !
Now if you can convince the President to still TRUST YOU WITH HIS LIFE, that will be great !
